Journalist? Read this. And if you’re not a journalist, read (former hack) Tom Rachman’s *absolutely brilliant* novel anyway, which I started last night and haven’t been able to put down since; unless something goes horrendously wrong three quarters of the way through, it will be my favourite read this year. It’s about an English-language newspaper produced in Rome, from inception to last legs; each chapter is about a staff member. It’s charming, funny, melancholy, wonderful, ingenious, clever, true - and timely. Here’s a review. Image is of the US cover, because the UK one isn’t as pretty.
